Vattudalens Fisk AB becomes a co-owner of Guldhaven Pelagiska AB
Guldhaven Pelagiska opens the way for Vattudalens Fisk AB to acquire 50 percent of the shares during the first quarter of 2024.
For more than 30 years Guldhaven Pelagiska AB has worked with sustainable fishing and kept developing its business. Today it processes raw materials from its own fishing, locally caught fish from the Norrland region and fish from its own farm. The fish factory in Kalix produces Kalix Löjrom (Kalix vendace roe), vendace products and several other products from the fishery. In addition, rainbow trout is filleted and packed in a range of formats such as whole sides, diced poké, midloin, stewing pieces and mince – all for the Swedish market and labelled Från Sverige.
The key words are quality, taste and sustainability. The common thread running through everything Guldhaven does is a passion for fishing, processing and a sustainable sea, rooted in the founding of the family business in 1992.
About Vattudalens Fisk AB
For more than 16 years Vattudalens Fisk AB has farmed rainbow trout and over the years has helped drive the development and improvement of the industry in Sweden. Today the group has 15 active sites from southern Småland to Västerbotten in the north, with permits to farm around 8,000 tonnes of fish. The entire production chain is domestic: using its own Swedish broodstock, roe is stripped for the hatchery and the fish are raised all the way to the processed product.
The company’s guiding message is Stolta Odlare (Proud Farmers), with visions and goals constantly aiming for farming that is the best on the market – for the consumer and the environment.
“We see interest in and demand for Swedish rainbow trout growing all the time. Customers increasingly want Swedish and sustainable options when choosing seafood. Through this partnership we can guarantee that larger volumes of Swedish fish reach our customers.” — Emma Gabrielsson, then CEO of Guldhaven Pelagiska AB
The co-ownership helps stabilise the position of Swedish fish on the domestic market. With Vattudalens Fisk AB’s production volumes and Guldhaven Pelagiska AB’s consumer-friendly products and sales channels, a Swedish alternative can be offered to Swedish consumers – through wholesalers, restaurants and stores.
“We are glad that we can finally bring more Swedish fish to the Swedish market. Locally farmed food for the local consumer is one of our long-term goals.” — Iivari Valli, CEO of Vattudalens Fisk AB
