Fishing nets on deck in the Bothnian Bay

About us

Thirty years old and still evolving

Guldhaven's passion for fishing, processing and a sustainable sea runs like a common thread through everything we do.

Our story

More than 30 years of sustainable fishing

  1. 1992

The foundations of Guldhaven Pelagiska AB were laid when Kent Karlsson and Arnold Bodlund started fishing together. First Baltic herring in spring and pike in summer. In time they began trawling for vendace and producing vendace roe, ready-made fish dishes and other fish products, sold through their own shop in Påläng and directly to retailers.

  2. 2002

After ten years the company, then called Guldfisken, moved its shop to an in-store counter in Luleå.

  3. 2004

The company also set up in Boden.

  4. 2006

Guldfisken AB was sold and the fishing business was renamed Guldhaven Fiske i Kalix AB.

  5. 2014

The company changed its name to Guldhaven Pelagiska AB when Teija Aho was appointed CEO. Investment in our own fishing and in receiving locally caught fish gathered pace.

  6. 2015

A new fish factory took shape when we moved to larger industrial premises in Kalix. The first construction phase was completed in September 2015, and production of vendace roe and other vendace products could begin in the new premises.

  7. 2017

In May we acquired Fiskcentrum i Piteå, a fish farm specialising in rainbow trout, which is now a wholly owned subsidiary.

  8. 2019

We began working with the underused carp fish bream and ide, together with Race For The Baltic and the John Nurminen Foundation in the Baltic Fish project.

  9. 2024

Vattudalens Fisk AB becomes a co-owner. Our rainbow trout is listed widely at Willys, Hemköp, City Gross and Snabbgross and served at Urban Deli in Stockholm.

  10. 2025

Guldhaven Pelagiska receives the Swedish Seafood Award (Sjömatspriset) at Nordic Seafood Summit in Gothenburg.

Fishermen on deck

Business idea

We look after the whole chain

Guldhaven's business idea is to make the most of local fish resources in an optimal and sustainable way. We are a Swedish company responsible for the whole chain, from fish to finished product.

We use as much of the fish as we possibly can, we farm our own fish in an environmentally responsible way, and we keep developing solutions that let us use our local raw materials as well as possible. That means quality for our customers and the smallest possible impact on the planet.

Constant development

Quality for the customer, minimal impact on the sea

We want to contribute new Swedish foods that taste good and put as little strain on the sea as possible. Some of our products also help reduce eutrophication in the Baltic Sea.

We also buy fish from other local fishermen, and in that way support and develop small-scale coastal fishing in Norrbotten.
